Kilian Martin, reinterpreting skateboarding

Kilian Martin, who joined the Powell Peralta team last month, made a(nother) short skate film with director Brett Novak. The well shot slow motion footage and the unique skate style of Kilian make this one really worth watching and hence, sharing.

I've had never heard of this skater before to be honest, but  I suppose we can rely on what Mike Vallely said  about him:

"Kilian Martin is the skater I’ve been waiting for-for over twenty years. Hailing from Madrid, Spain, Kilian has gathered up his influences and inspirations, and then taking from the best of them, unchained himself from tradition and any social justification, completely reinterpreting skateboarding on his own terms. More so than method, Kilian trusts in himself – His body, his spirit and his skateboard are one."

In 2009 and 2010, Brett Novak already dedicated some of his short skate films to Kilian, illustrating his progress through the years. The style reminds quite a lot of Rodney Mullen, yet looks original and fresh.
